Songs for a Rainy Day

It's been a rainy, stormy morning here in Indiana, the kind where the dark sky prevents you from wanting to get out from under the covers to do anything remotely productive.

But alas, it was time to get into design mode and wrap up final designs for the Indianapolis Christmas Gift and Hobby Show in a few weeks--my first show!

So I grabbed a cup of hot tea, some delicious zucchini bread, and took my spot at my desk. But work days are rarely complete without music in the background. Here are some of my picks for this dreary, rainy day:

Something about rain makes me think old school sound, and this song fits the bill. I've been in love with it for a few years now and it never gets old. Love the brass sound.
Sure, the title is a little obvious, but this song about a childhood rainy day at home is beautiful. If you've never heard it, listen now, and check out some of her other music, as well.
Like "You Are the Best Thing," this song has an old school sound I adore. Overall, I can't get enough of Mayer Hawthorne lately. I saw him in concert back in June and loved every second (except for when a girl kept almost elbowing me in the eye, but that's another story).
I probably couldn't make a playlist without Ingrid Michaelson making the cut. This is one of my favorite songs, and the lines about living as a fisherman's wife always bring to mind chilly, misty days on the East Coast.
I caught the end of Juno the other day and was reminded just how much I love this version of the classic song.

What's on your playlist today?
